Tire Molding

Finding tires of the right size for a model of an historical vehicle is almost impossible. Certainly, there were none available for the model of the 1935 Austin Seven. The only solution was to mold my own.


Despite a thorough search, I found little useful information on the Internet. Since I had no experience making tires, and limited experience with resin casting, it was obviously going to be something of an adventure. So, along the way, I made notes and took pictures so that I could replicate the process for future models. Those notes turned into a Build Note that you may find useful. The note covers issues such as feed points and mold split lines as well as providing a step-by-step description of the process.
